Help honoured in 2024 National Disability Awards

Help Enterprises (Help), part of the IntoWork Group, has been honoured for its exceptional work in the disability sector with two nominations at the 2024 National Disability Awards.

The National Disability Awards spotlight the extraordinary contributions of individuals, groups and organisations across various categories, celebrating their dedication to creating an inclusive Australia where people with disabilities are valued, respected and empowered to contribute to their communities.

This year, Help has been nominated in the Media Award category for its “A Few Good Men” podcast and in the Excellence in Service Quality category for its significant contributions to supporting people with disabilities (PWD).

‘A Few Good Men’, created by Murray Jones, a devoted father of a child with autism, features heartfelt conversations between men raising children with disabilities. The podcast provides a platform for fathers to share their stories, exploring the challenging and unexpected journeys they’ve experienced and how raising these remarkable children has transformed their lives.

Murray’s personal journey inspired him to reach out to other men in similar situations, ensuring they feel supported and understood. Produced by Help, the podcast has featured eight guests so far, including Buddha Barnes, a father of five children living with disabilities and the star of the documentary film Because We Have Each Other.

Help was also recognised for its positive organisational culture, collaborative approaches, leadership and governance, and its initiatives to prevent abuse through the Excellence in Service Quality award. This award acknowledges organisations that demonstrate exceptional standards in delivering services to people with disabilities.

David Avery, Help’s Chief Operations Officer, expressed his delight at the nominations: “Our mission has always been to create a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive. These nominations highlight the hard work and dedication of our team and the impact we strive to make every day,” he said.

“The National Disability Awards celebrate the collective efforts of individuals and organisations working towards a more inclusive Australia. Help is proud to be part of this movement and looks forward to continuing its vital work in support of people with disabilities.”
