MRAEL proud to unveil new Reconciliation Action Plan

MRAEL, part of the IntoWork Group, has officially launched its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to formalise and support its ongoing commitment to reconciliation in Australia.

The RAP includes artwork commissioned by renowned contemporary Wiradjuri and Mabuiag Island artist Aaron Eastment, to help celebrate MRAEL’s place in communities across Queensland and New South Wales.

The dynamic mural features gold accents that underscore the rich cultural heritage of these areas, integrating symbols that resonate with MRAEL’s fundamental values and the overarching goals of the IntoWork Group. The artwork includes white circles that pinpoint the locations of MRAEL’s 16 sites in Queensland and New South Wales, with smaller circles representing the various local family and community groups.

Queensland First Nations Engagement Advisor Shane Williams emphasised the significance of reconciliation in healing and improving relationships between non-Indigenous and First Nations peoples in Australia, “Reconciliation involves acknowledging the impacts of colonization, promoting understanding, and working towards justice, equality, and reconciliation for all. It is a continuous journey that demands commitment, listening, and collaboration from all community members.”

CEO of MRAEL Christine Zechowski shared MRAEL’s vision for reconciliation aims to create vibrant futures with First Nations People through ongoing collaboration, “MRAEL is dedicated to developing a Reflect RAP to genuinely enhance and fortify our relationships with First Nations communities,” Ms. Zechowski said.

“We are committed to ensuring that First Nations People have access to services that support their educational and skill development. By expanding our understanding, MRAEL aims to better meet the needs of First Nations People. Our RAP will serve as a framework to enhance our services, respect their culture, and acknowledge their history.”

The unveiling of MRAEL’s RAP was celebrated together with staff from MRAEL, Australian Trade College North Brisbane (ATCNB), Australian Trade Training College (ATTC), Mas National, and the IntoWork Group.
